AUSTIN, TX, November 18, 2008 – deverus, Inc., a leading provider of software and support services for background screening companies, announced today that Shawn Rucks, President and Chief Executive Officer of the company, recently acquired the shares and interest owned by Todd Salmi in deverus, Inc.
Mr. Salmi joined deverus, founded by Mr. Rucks, in 1999 and served in numerous capacities with deverus including Co-Founder, Chief Technology Architect, Sales, Product Development, Legal, and Customer Relations. His most title recent was Vice President for System Customizations and New Versions.
Rucks stated that Todd’s departure was bittersweet. “Todd was one of the original members of the deverus team and through the years contributed significantly to the development of our core suite of software products. He was a major factor in the amazing growth that deverus has experienced over the years. He will be missed.”
The buy-out was prompted by Salmi’s desire to pursue other opportunities, including a move to Mexico, as well as a new deverus strategy focusing on core services and established customers. Specific terms of the stock purchase were not disclosed, however, it was stated that it was an “all cash deal,” according to Mr. Rucks.
Mr. Salmi also served the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) as an Associate Board of Director, Co-Chair for the Government Relations, and author of several whitepapers. Salmi was an active attendee, panelist, and speaker at annual trade shows and mid-year meetings. He was a recognized leader in the background screening business.

He continued, “I had several opportunities open up for me and the time was right for me to depart.
