


Shawn Rucks, President, Founder and CEO
Shawn has brought deverus to its current position as the leading out-sourced technology provider for the background check industry through passion, industry experience, and an unwavering vision to create the absolute best technology solutions and services available on the market. Currently, he helps define and evolve deverus’ business model and strategy. Prior to assuming his current position, Shawn founded e-screening.com, an employment screening company, eventually sold to APSSI and before that gave expertise and vision to three other start-ups including SDR Systems, Riosite Brazil, and AST. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Spanish with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
Todd Salmi, Vice President of Professional Services and Innovations
Todd Salmi joined deverus in 1999 and is currently focused on strategic initiatives and business development. Before joining deverus, Todd worked in Arthur Andersen's Business Consulting Group, and specifically functioned in a leadership role in the Web and e-commerce groups. He also acted as the core developer and technical lead in the development of three custom e-commerce web sites, including two projects budgeted at over one million dollars. In addition to his experience with Fortune 500 companies, Todd was a consultant for several startups and was involved in business plan creation, market analysis and strategy, investor presentations, and technology planning. Todd received a B.B.A. with High Honors in both the Business Honors and Management Information Systems Programs and a B.A. in Spanish with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. Todd is also certified with MCSE and MCP +Internet licenses.
Todd Hindman, Vice President of Sales
Todd Hindman became a member of the deverus team in early 2008 and he leads our new account acquisition and strategic partnership efforts. Todd studied psychology at Texas State University and brings considerable sales, sales management, and marketing experience to the deverus team. In addition to just over eight years worth of experience with LexisNexis as a highly-successful Sales Executive, he was previously very successful in various leadership roles during an eight year tenure with Danka Industries. With LexisNexis, Todd was responsible for the sales of LexisNexis’ vast legal and public records databases to legal, governmental, and law enforcement entities. With Danka Industries, Todd’s roles included the day-to-day management of several of Danka’s most successful branches as well as his leading of the marketing efforts for Danka while serving as Director of Marketing. With deverus, Todd’s number one priority is building relationships within the industry.
Dave Lindemann, Director of Finance
Dave Lindemann has been a CPA for twelve years. He has spent the majority of his career in the public accounting arena. He began with Coopers & Lybrand, LLP in 1995 and then worked for a small local accounting firm until he became self-employed in 2000. He switched to the private accounting world as Director of Finance for deverus where he handles the finance and accounting functions. He has been with deverus in a consulting capacity for the last 5 ½ years, but finally took the full-time plunge in early 2006. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor in Business Administration and Masters in Professional Public Accounting. Dave has been a resident of Austin, TX his entire 35 years.
Brent Breshers, Director of Technology
Brent Breshers joined deverus in 2000 and currently manages deverus’ talented technology team and industry leading technology. Brent brings an array of technology talents and has worked on all levels of deverus technology. He has been deeply involved with product development, design, scoping, planning, management, programming, security, maintenance, testing, physical infrastructure, database, integration, and application components. Brent has built a technology team of professional, experienced, and enthusiastic members dedicated to elevating deverus technology and helping deverus clients gain a competitive edge in the market place. Brent studied Business and Information Systems at both Texas A&M University and the University of Texas (an oxymoron and a bold move in the state of Texas). When not hard at work on industry leading technology, he enjoys backpacking, traveling, kayaking, golf, tennis, and nature photography.
Nicholas Cramer, Director of Business Development
Nick joined the deverus team in July of 2005. He currently focuses on driving new revenue to the company through the acquisition of new accounts, strategic partnerships, and serves as a key resource for research & development. Before joining deverus, Nick worked in Network Administration with TNI, Inc. and in MIS for Time Warner Austin where he was involved in campaign generation, promotional strategy and market research. In addition to his technical background, Nick has over 5 years experience in outside sales with Vector Marketing Corporation where he excelled his way into the elite "President's Club". Nick studied marketing at Texas State University San Marcos and has also received “Safe Hiring Certification”
